Making the world beautiful one dog at a time
Welcome to my website, where you will find everything you need to know about who I am, how I got my start, and what I am up to now. Ever since I was young, I have had a devotion to dogs and I have forged a way to ensure thats what I do every day.
I would love you to follow my social media, Verity Hardcastle on Instagram and Facebook as I regularly post about the latest in dogdom.
Unfortunately I am not able to take on any dog grooming clients at this time as I am fully subscribed but would love you to follow my social media for updates and news.
A Born Dog Lover
From the moment I can remember I have adored animals, dogs in particular, its been inherited from both sides of my family who adored dogs of all sizes. My paternal family keeping, training and breeding gundogs and my maternal side of the family favouring Norfolks, Dalmatians and even Tibetan Terriers.
My first show dog was a Dobermann called Angel and age 19 I was thrown into the mesmerising world of breed shows, I made a decision there and that that I needed to envelope myself in dogs and make it my career. Do what you love and you will never work another day again.
I thought dog grooming would satisfy my creative eye and passion for dogs, I threw myself into the profession whole heartedly, I trained hard, studied endlessly and travelled a lot, visiting amazing talented groomers from all over the UK to further my skills.
I completed my City and guilds level 3 Intro, then my diploma and many years later I completed my Highers qualification and became a Master Groomer and member of the Guild of Master Groomers.
Alongside showing dogs I am a competition groomer at championship level, I have travelled all over the UK winning many 1st placings, even taking a 1st in the USA. I compete with Poodles mostly but also with Lhasa Apso's, Tibetan Terriers, Bichons and several spiral/creative trims. I have also won several business industry awards including two times winner of the national grooming salon of the year.
I adore teaching, demoing and passing on the knowledge I have gathered, be it training groomers or speaking at grooming conferences.
I am always looking for a new challenge, as a groomer you never ever stop learning and honing your craft.
Although I have done segments for TV, be it live TV with Clare Balding for Channel 4 and teaching the hilarious Alan Carr how to trim a dog (he didn't dare so it was simply a comedy performance). I was cast by team Pooch Perfect, a BBC1 prime time commissioned show to be their Judge on a brand new reality grooming competition, what an incredible experience that I loved every minute of, its shear delight. I have also appeared live on Channel 4 several times doing dog segments for The Steph Show and I continue to embrace these new opportunities with the most enthusiasm.
I live in North Yorkshire with my husband, our two beautiful children and our menagerie of Poodles.
